I have tried to download axman with no success, i have a couple of 6-8 gig files on pc that i want to copy off.

can anybody suggest a programme that i can use

what does "copy off" mean?

and what on earth is axman???

as in write to a dvd.

AxMan will split large files into pieces and restore them for you. AxMan features include a checksum added to each split file, ability to split to different formats and sizes, right-click on files to send to AxMan, and double-click on files to start the restore process. This application can be useful for writing files larger than 1.44MB to disks, as well as restoring the disks when you want to return them to your system.

You could use something like RAR to create multi-file archives in teh size of your choice, and restore those multi-files to a single file again afterwards.

WinRar FTW, you can chose the split sizes and span over multiple disks.

Is this an AxMan advert, or is AxMan an advert for this, or does everything seem to be a hiccup of peanut butter?

Don't you love the way that hiccup has 2 c's?

must go look for 8 gig dvds.

i just took assasins creed and tried winrar. took a 6.48gig to 6.36 and took a hour and half to do it. so now trying to compress it.

LoL, yeah, it is going to take a while and do keep in mind that the 8.5gig dvds ain't that cheap. :D Unfortunately.

Nor that compatbile (?) either - I've had hit and miss success with DL discs.

I've only had 1 DVD DL disc which I used and luckily it worked. Obviously it was stolen, cause it had back to the future 1,2 and 3 on. :(

I got DL dvd's for about R7 each from cyberdyne... works for me...

Anyhow, don't set it to compress, select no compression / archiving to just split the file. If you really want to save as much space as possible you can try compress, but if you're copying ISOs (you pirate you), you probably won't gain anything from compression.
