Our company has a 128k diginet circuit from Telkom that runs from our office to a datacenter (where our servers are hosted). We don't use it for internet at all; only to 'monitor' our servers; ie data only.

Been trying to find an equivalent Neotel product but can't make too much sense of Neolink vs metrolink vs neoconnect etc... I've check access and we seem to be ok at both ends. Maybe someone who's more familiar with Neotel can advise what we could use instead of diginet?

Neotel

Neotel's fibre options start at 2Mb.
There is nothing for the lower end product AFAIK.

Lower than 2MB/s will be based on enterprise WiMAX, 2mb/s and up is based on Fiber and/or microwave depending on what is available. Their port charges is a bit shocking AFAIK, you can only buy a min capacity of 10mbit/s (once off), then they charge you pm based on the bit/s you use...

I dont have the prices for Point to Point lines, but for 128k on 1:1 it's 4400, varying to 1:4 for 2900. The NRC (Non Recuring Costs) for the port is currently R22.1K whilst MRC (Monthly Recuring Costs) are R10.4K (Sorry, I was under the impression there is no MRC!

We don't have a WiMAX connection, we use Fiber as mentioned previously, but I highly doubt that there would be port charges for a Enterprise WiMAX connection, as there is no physical port... ;)

Hillbilly want's a point to point connection.

You can do that on Neoconnect (if both sites are covered), but setting up a VPN can then be done (over the internet) Point to point VPN? Anyone know?

Costwise, the Neoconnect will be cheapest, but beware, if the amount of data volume is around 128 kb/s, you are going to struggle. Rather wait (and wait and wait) for the Neoflex data service. Should be easier to set up a VPN on that Router, 'cos it's built in then!

thanks for the info everyone.. sidewinder i tend to agree with you, rather wait for neoflex data option.

with neoconnect, i have to install a 'phone' into a cabinet; doesn't make sense
