Hello All,

I've got a bit of a problem, and I need some advice.

Has anyone got any advice on what I should do for temporary internet connectivity while I wait for telkom to finish thier fiber roll out.

My small business has just moved into a new office and I want to get a fiber line installed, but the telkom fiber rollout into my area is about three months behind schedule. It will be up and running any day now, but that's what they said 3 months ago. It was supposed to be done by the end of March. My business, software development using cloud services, relies on constant internet connectivity.

At the moment the people in the office next door to me have been kind enough to let me use their network (provided by Neotel) but we are impacting their speeds and I don't want to overstay my welcome.

Has anyone got any ideas?

"What should I do while waiting for fiber?"

1. Maybe work on writing a novel or two, using a typewriter
2. Consider studying a foreign language
3. Get a degree, or a second one if you already have one.
4. Raise a family.

One or more of the above should suffice.

The problem is that most the providers force you into contracts (12 month or longer). So you will struggle to get anything reliable for a month.
Bitco worked fairly well at my last company but it has an installation cost and they want you to sign a contract I think. (also depends completely on where you are).
Carrier pigeon is probably the next fastest uncapped option.

I wish this forum had a like/Upvote button :)

If your next door neighbor has Neotel, perhaps contact Neotel and hear their options? Either way, cost of equipment might come into play, and as others said, might have to sign a contract if you opt not to pay for the equipment upfront. Since Neotel already has presence there, there might be no installation fees.

Having said that, ask the neighbor if they have option to upgrade/downgrade line speeds at will or not (month to month or whatever) and offer to pay them the difference to up their line speed?
