Listen to these men. Arcanum is an excellent game. I too am a huge fan of these games, good heavens I miss Icewind Dale and the like. I would also suggest the first 2 Fallout games, they're not party-based but still provide an experience similar to BG etc.

I see its $6 at GOG, well that is if I have the right game?

That is the correct one. The game is a little bit dated though, so if you have no problems with older games then I guarantee you'll like it.

Ugh...im trying Dragon Age II but all the maps (caverns/wharehouses) are being re-used for the side quests. Kind of put me off

Now that is one game that got no replay value at all. I barely made it through the 1st time.

My view of Dragon Age 2: Its a movie where you decide what order some scenes play in and what tone of voice the actor use when he is acting them out.

What about the Neverwinter Nights series?

Neverwinter nights 1 was brilliant.

Took long enough for Neverwinter Nights to be mentioned. I'm a complete fan of BG, Icewind and Neverwinter Nights 1, you don't get RPGs as good as them lately though Dragon Age 1 does try.

If you enjoyed BG and Icewind you'll enjoy Neverwinter Nights 1, it's great and has some good expansions. Though personally Neverwinter 2 was a complete flop so I wouldn't bother with that.

PS if you're going to get any of them new (BG, Icewind, Neverwinter) you should consider getting it from GOG, that way there's no DRM and the games have been patched to work on the latest systems and you'll get bonus content like the soundtrack etc.
