Hi,

I am currently paying R600 for 3GB of Iburst.

I am tired of the inconsistent download speed.

What would be the best option to replace this crap with?

I am thinking ADSL but there are so many options that I have no clue where to start or what would be the best.

I don't want to end up spending more than R600 a month on internet.

Any suggestions?

damn, you beat me to it Landyman. :) Was going to suggest a rock: about the same speed and much cheaper.

Well, looking at the speed I am currently getting on Vodacom, I might just dump iBurst for a full Vodacom solution at home

You left out the analogue line rental. Think you can get a 5GB account for R245 from Openweb.

ADSL 384
Line rental: R111.90
ADSL: R152

Then it depends on the bandwidth you want. I have a pay-as-you-go, slightly more expensive per mb, but considering that some months I go through about 3.5mb, and others about 0.5mb, I prefer this option. That's R70 per gig. I also go through about 1gig of unshaped every 3 months, which is R110 per gig.

Total cost: I spend about R500 a month - and that includes telephone calls from the landline.

Can't complain about the speed. It's just a little too slow to watch Youtube in realtime, and P2P is slow, but considering what I'm doing with it, I understand. Gaming is alright. Everything else is more than sufficient.
