My Stats Are:

ADSL Link |Downstream|Upstream|
Connection Speed |2048 kbps |512 kbps|
Line Attenuation |61.0 db |31.5 db |
Noise Margin |5.9 db |10.0 db |

what should i sync at? the max stable sync?

im unhappy with my 2048 speed because when i first took it they said i will sync at 4mb now they saying a whole load of crap

IIRC stats like thoes are very good...
I cant remember exactly which one you want high and which you want low...but I think it was the attenuation you want high and the noise low...

So over there its all good IIRC.
Dunno why you arent synching @ 4Mb :S

However....my 4Mb line synchs fine @ 4096/512 and has a a lowish noise margin and lowish line attenuation....soo, I might be wrong about wanting a high line attenuation!

can you please find out and post if i should

I'm pulling my hair out with sync loss today so I'd also like to know which one should be high and which one low.

How do you check the stats on a Telkom Mega 100WR? :o

i cant help u with that because i got a netgear d834gt

You guys got it wrong, you want the att low and noise margin high.
So matrix your stats arent great, 2048 is probably your max.
Feo log into your router, click status then modem status and you got it!
:D:D:D

Code:
Modem Status

Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 640
Ds Rate (Kbps) 4096
US Margin 12
DS Margin 20
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 9
US Line Attenuation 5
Peak Cell Rate 1509 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 0
CRC Tx Fast 1
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Fast Path

Is that good or bad?

Not too sure but your noise margin should at least be over 10, and your att should probably be under 50. Wait for one of the techies to give you some proper info though

Code:
Modem Status

Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 640
Ds Rate (Kbps) 4096
US Margin 12
DS Margin 20
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 9
US Line Attenuation 5
Peak Cell Rate 1509 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 0
CRC Tx Fast 1
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Fast Path

Is that good or bad?

you got 4096 down and 640 up , so duh thats gud

Feo!! Do you live next door to the exchange???
You got ****ing awesome att!!! And your noise margin is pretty good as well!
Thats obviously why you got a 4096/640 line!! You should soon be on 8Mbps when the service is eventually released!!!

Well not really. It doesn't help when you get 512k speeds and constantly lose sync with the exchange.

duh

I think my exchange is like down the road from where I stay. :D A couple hundred metres at most.

Probably your downstream noise margin causing it. Its not bad but could be better.

Mine is:
Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 128
Ds Rate (Kbps) 384
US Margin 18
DS Margin 17
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 46
US Line Attenuation 29
Peak Cell Rate 301 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 7
CRC Tx Fast 0
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Fast Path

Dont know what my max sync is cause I have only ever subscribed to 384 but I reckon I could get 3Mbps or something.

See my stats above ^^^
Edit: Feo I meant your upstream noise margin, not down. :D
