I prefer Firefox, but that's just my own personal taste. Most people would disagree

VLC - Plays just about everything right out of the box.
7-Zip - I use it in conjunction with WinRAR.
uTorrent and Bittorrent for P2P

Some additional apps I like to make use of:

NetSpeed Monitor, to monitor my internet/network connection.
Format Factory, for quick convenient conversion of video files.
ConvertXtoDVD, to make video files playable on any standard DVD player.
Nero Essentials, because I'm old fashioned that way. :P
VirtualBox, for my virtual machines/sandboxes.

On gaming Machine (I keep a pretty clean build):
K-Lite
Chrome with pdf plugin - instead of the Adobe pdf application.
Winamp (Good with hot keys and in game play; I rewmove bloat like WMP)
Games (Dragon Age, Diablo, MK9 and various other games and emulators)

Word Processing/Spreadsheets: Microsoft Office/Wordpad/Google Drive/Notepad
Email: GMail
GIMP (I don't like photoshop -- free, and personal preference)
I use PHPStorm (with integrated FTP or FileZilla), notepad++ or Sublime Text instead of DreamWeaver
K-Lite media codec pack (but use Windows Media Player). Use VLC for streaming movies.
AutoHotKey for personal shortcuts.
7-zip beta. Way better than WinRAR in my opinion (free and doesn't ask you to buy, plus has a similar, plausibly better, UI).
uTorrent for linux distros
DropBox for file backups. Don't care how insecure people say it is. It keeps previous versions and I really don't think anybody cares enough about me to try hack me or observe my data.
Blender 3D and JetBrains PyCharm for game dev and 3D rendering with Cycles.
Skype.
FL Studio 11
