Just sold my iPad Mini 1st Gen. Looking for something with a little bit more power :).

Budget is R2500 max. No specific screen size necessary and neither is a cellular connection. Happy to buy new (Orange store included) or used.

What interests me so far:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7" or 10")
LG G Pad 7.0

At this srage I'm leaning towards the LG

Do you prefer ios or android?

Buy this tablet, you will not find anything better and it at least comes with a local warranty

Buy it asap.

This tablet can be upgraded to kitkat by the way
This is extremely tempting!

Either to be honest. The iPad got a tad slow and I doubt I'd get a Mini 2 or iPad 4 within budget...

I have the lg 7 inch that you mentioned, the tablet is just ok. Gaming on a snapdragon 400 means setting graphics on low - medium and most of the budget android only have 8gb internal memory.

I regret buying a tablet with 8gb internal memory, it is a pain in the ass and i constantly have to try to make space.

I asked if you prefer ios cos apple usually has a snappy user interface and gaming is optimised on all apple tablets. You will probably experience better gaming on a budget ipad than a budget android.

I have the LG. It's a nice tablet, but I'm not a power user. I only use it for hangouts, tapatalk, reddit, email, etc. It runs Hearthstone alright though.

Get a tablet with a sim slot. It maybe handy when load shedding starts again

I don't game :). Will be used for browsing, tapatalk and emails mostly. No need for 3G as my phone can do WiFi hotspot if necessary.

The 7/8" size is tempting for eBooks but that Lenovo is extremely tempting

Well you wont find a powerful ios device for 2.5k, so android or maybe a win8 tablet is where you will have to settle with. Android tablets most likely the cheapest.

Also, keep in mind , unlike Apple, most android devices got normal micro usb ports and/or sd card slots, so there are alot of options regarding space (even if the device is only 16/32gb, odds are you can add more easily)

Anyhow, i personally got hooked on windows tablets lately, done android, done ios, but good old windows still gives me the most options. Currently on an Acer Switch , but unfortunately it is way above your budget.

Go have a look at the Lennovo's and the Galaxy Tab 4 at Dion Wired or Incredible and you will be amazed at how much better the screen on the Samsung is. Also take a pair of earphones with you to hear the excellent sound quality produced by the onboard audio chip. It really is exceptional if you have DJ Headphones. The 8gb storage can be a drawback and the camera's are below par in quality. The graphics chip is mediocre at best so don't expect to be doing much gaming unless it's 2D.

Lenovo A5500 for R1999 from Incredible(this weekend only) is about the best bargain at the moment followed by the Galaxy Tab 4 for R2890 at Game(next 2 weeks). I can't find the Hisense Sero 8 anywhere in stock as that's the closest think to an iPad Mini from Android.

You are being silly. The best deal is the yoga tablet that i posted. The Samsung tab4 is a rip off only their lte models get snapdragon processors. The Lenovo yoga tablet that i posted uses a Snapdragon 400 processor(the same processor in the Lte tab4)

The yoga hd tablet is basically a 10inch tab4 at a cheaper price, the yoga tablet is made of more premium materials and has dolby dual front facing speakers.

I know my stuff and that yoga tablet is well worth it

There you go.
The yoga tablet is premium compared to the tab4.

Tab4 has *** tft screen vs yoga ips display
Pixel density better on yoga tablet aswell

I was referring to the Tab 4 7". The Yoga Tab is a wonderful deal but I wasn't impressed by the design aesthetics.

Who cares abt the design aesthetics it is R2458.I am beginning to understand why Samsung isnt doing as well as they use to.

They arent matching the prices of reputable Chinese manufacturers. Samsung seems to be using cheaper hardware in their budget devices while some Chinese manufacturers(xiaomi, meizu, oppo, oneplus, lenovo) use better processors in their budget devices and sell it at the fraction of the cost compared to Samsung.

How long does Loot take for delivery? Are they reliable and trusted on the quoted time?

Hi, did you purchase your tablet yet?

Where would the Nexus 7 feature in relation to the tablets mentioned so far? Why I ask is that I have a first gen N7 and yesterday I updated it with Android version 5.1. Even my S4 only got as far as 4.2.2. Seems like Google is very happy to keep rolling out the updates.
