My Fujitsu laptop works perfectly except for 2 things that has suddenly happened.

1.It does not detect my CD ROM drive even after uninstalling the drivers so can't format, reload or play disks.
2.It will not read anything from the USB ports including the mouse. In fact anything other than the mouse plugged into any of the ports causes the pc to freeze. So can't log on the net.WIFI without an adaptor doesn't work.

Ive tried booting in safe mode, uninstalling usb drivers and battery pulls to no avail.

Either my MB is stuffed or I've got a serious virus.Doubt theres a virus that can do this so I'm going with former.

Just uninstalled my virus protection a few weeks before because it was causing issues. Is there a way of testing to see what it could be.Dont want to get another MB for nothing.I dont mind losing the data on the PC because I've managed to back up most of it before this thing started acting up.

If you don't mind losing the info then just do a full format and re-install. If it is still dodge after that then yes its probably hardware.

Just out of curiousity, what model is it? Is it a new laptop?

How do I reload without the use of the diskdrive or USB ports?

i have this one (it is ****)

Dear all
i recommend you all not to buy this piece of ****
as i have a bad experience with this one, and theses are the problems i have found :
1) the wireless will make you crazy because it crashes alot and you need to restart 100 times to make it works (just turn it one then do hibernate then it will work)
2) the USB it will stop working one buy one you have 4 right? after 1 year it will be ****ed all
and this is failure from the motherboard
3) after this the CR room will stop working as well
so in general it is a piece of ****.. don't buy it
thanks

Test it with a Linux live disk to see if the ports and drive actually work

Judging from comment from the Web with identical multiple faults, I suspect you have 5V power failure on the motherboard. You can check it with multimeter. Measurement should be made under load from modem or USB stick or some other device. As you are in JHB, I can check it for you.
I don't say it can be repaired, maybe not worth, I don't know, but always worth to check.
