Hoping for some input on something. A friend of mine who spends way too much time on social networking sites (i.e twitter and facebook) was recently approached by a club/venue/nightspot in Fourways to manage their twitter account for them by posting updates, lineups, specials, news, etc. She currently runs the website, twitter acc and facebook page for a pretty large company so this is something she does, she is employed by the company and gets a monthly salary. She has asked me if I had any ideas as to what she should charge/quote the club for running their online stuff... I have no idea.

So, does anyone here have any experince with this sort of thing? What would be a fair amount to charge for doing this? She would be doing all the updates (twitter and possibly FB) irt gigs, live acts, special promotions, news, etc. as well as some form marketing (increasing followers, VIP, etc.). Should it be by the hour or a flat monthly fee? I personally feel a monthly fee would be better but not sure how much one could charge for this? Any suggestions on fees/rates?

Any advice or input will be appreciated, I think she needs to give them an answer relatively soon so I thought I would post here and then send her the link when the posts start racking up :D

EDIT: Wasn't 100% sure about where to post this so if it's in the wrong spot.... my bad ;)

Shot.

So if I understand you correctly, she's already getting paid to do the same thing for another company?

IMO it would then make sense to work out from her monthly salary what she's currently getting per hour.

Use that figure as a starting point to decide what to charge the club (and charge them per hour - since she won't be doing it full-time).

She'd probably have to keep careful track of what she does for them and when, regardless of whether she's charging them per hour or not.

Hope this helps...

But it's her job! :)

R1000 to R1500 retainer per week on a week to week basis, the conditions must be outlined quite strictly in terms of her scope of work. Next thing you know she's performing all the marketing and PR for the place and does way more than the work originally required..

Thanks for the input guys, will pass it on to help her get some ideas.

Was also going to say R1000 - R1500 per month retainer. I have a mate who used to do this. There were times when he was flooded with work and others when it was slow. He used to charge R1000 per month about a year ago.
