What to do (car crash)

No I probably wouldnt run the light just because someone behind me is driving like a P035. Just because someone wants to drive like one doesnt mean I have to. I think the minute you start making allowances for that kind of thing, you are headed down a slippery slope.

Obviously if it had just changed from green to yellow, there wouldnt be enough time for me to stop so I would carry on going. But if it changed to yellow a while ago, I'm stopping, sorry. The guy behind me must learn to drive.

I dont get what you are saying. Yes, check your rear view mirror while breaking, but if the robot is red or yellow, I'm stopping. thats what you are supposed to do. To think you must now run the light because some idiot behind you wants to run it - sorry, not going to. If I cant stop in time, I'll go, if not, I'm stopping, and the driver behind me needs to be aware of what I'm doing. the onus is on him to break.

^^^ What Ancalogon said.
I am not going to have a head-on or T-bone someone just because the idiot behind me is not paying attention.
(It's brake & braking :) )

If the light is yellow, you are actually supposed to stop if you have time to, and notice i say YOU.. not because some d00s behind you is driving like a numbnuts.

No use it as an excuse to accelerate through the intersection.
GREEN TO YELLOWWWW !!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D

I NEVER SAID YELLOW TO RED OR RED !!!!!!

There is no reason to be ass****ed as you prefer and will also save you on injures, cash and so on IF it's safe and clear to drive through

WHEN IT WENT FROM GREEN TO YELLOW

I hope that was simple enough to grasp :p

@CodeMaster
Well caught - I'm normally quite anal about spelling and grammar, surprised I messed that one up!

A guy drove into the back of my car (at low speed) yesterday, guy got out, looked at damage to his car and drove away. I have a tow bar, no damage. Anyway, if he comes with a story at least my insurers will handle it.

Apparently its not ideal, as you end up with very little cosmetic damage, but a lot of stuctural damage. Lets just say I've heard a few stories. I've had a towbar for years, but never used it for anything but the thule for the bikes.

Sorry dude, it was a thread hijack.. i was responsing to ssb specifically.

No problem...

@Ancalagon So you'd stop even if someone was about to drive into you ?

If the light is yellow there is enough time to passover IF you see you can't make it because some twat is ass****ing your car. Rather that than suffering injuries and maybe other things. I'm not talking running a red light here obviously...

@Mach III so clearly the fool* wasn't looking. That's different. (*not driver, the dude behind you)

I don't think anyone would just stop dead...

Yeah I'm imagining a scenario where he was on his cellphone...

That's one of my pet peeves in the mornings. Countless drivers in my path to work that's not driving, but doing other things like makeup, fiddling with their children, reading paper, cell phones etc etc. Nothing is THAT important, if you have to get headset or pull over. I pull over and do what I have to do if it's really important otherwise I drive and that's that.

I agree, it's ridiculous, I think it's as bad as driving under the influence...

Did you get his numberplate?...

Did you report the "accident"...

Technically he has broken the law by leaving the scene of an accident. (iirc)

Yep. Got his numberplate and reported it, also reported to insurance if he tries to pull something funny, not that he has my details. Don't know if he broke the law with his actions, he got out of car, checked his and my damaged and then grabed my hand as I was standing and checking for damage and shook it and then went back to the car and drove away.

It was really light bump from my side, hardly felt it. His merc's numberplate and bumper seemed to have taken the brunt of it.

Anyway, good luck to the OP, and get that car out of the tow place (if you want the car still), the storage fees are gonna end up costing more than the vehicle costs.

Good to hear about your car...

Thanks, it's already out and getting fixed... Now just need to sue the guy for the costs, and time etc etc...
