ok...i have a 512 graphics card in my pc connected to my fullHD LCD VGA to VGA. I have 720p and 1080p content i play through my pc and notice sometimes, in "dark" scenes, a bit if pixalation.

Now, i was advised that HDMI is better. Change my graphics card to accomodate a HDMI output and connect the panel to the LCD HDMI to HDMI, will this improve the quality?

Depends on the LCD I would think.... Both signals are digital, but the LCD might process them differently depending on where you plug them in.

I know there's a difference between the HDMI port handling on my Sammy LCD.

it could be a few things that are causing this

It could be the way your TV handles the VGA.
I found a DVI to HDMI cable at game the other day before spending lots of Money on a HDMI graphics card try this cable out and see if there is a difference

It could be the resolution of your PC. You need to set it to set to 1932x1080 or 1323x720 these are the resolutions for HD anything less will have pixalation I am not sure about the first numbers but its something like that.

It could also be the quality of the video you playing are you playing proper HD content recorded at 1080p or 720p

Also check the display frequency your running at - I find if mine is set incorrectly, the colours are pixelated slightly.

Do you have DVI out? You can get a DVI-HDMI cable. DVI is digital.

let me try that...a colleague of mine bought a HD LCD connected to his Sony blu-ray player....boght a HDMI to HDMI cable for R300 at Audio Vision and the quality was crap....the minute he bought a IXOS cable that cost R800, it increased the quality by 500%

Doesn't sound right. As long as the cable can handle the bandwidth for HDMI, there should not be a visual difference because the signal is digital. If the cable was at fault, your panel would most likely complain about signal.

Don't fall into the trap of overpriced cables. On analogue equipment it can make a difference, on digital equipment you will know when the cable sucks because the signal would either drop, or one of your components would complain. When I got my first amp capable of DTS audio, I found that the R30 coax cable I bought at game for the digital connection performed the same as the R250 one I bought with my amp.

Before you go blow lots of money on cables

There is no difference in quality of cable with a digital signal like HDMI

I have heard that from a few Audio video stores and its total rubbish

If the signal going through the cable was analogue like though RCA and Svideo then by all means by better cables they will make a difference

Digital cables are a hole new animal they either work or don't work if the cable is bad enough that it would affect the digital signal it would not work.

When they refer to version 1.1 cables and version 1.3 that has nothing to do with the cable is the device you plugging into the ends of the cable that has to comply to that standard

I use an R80.00 HDMI cable I found at checkers hyper home and I have a perfect picture on my Bluray player with it

If you want to waste you money by really expensive cables so you can say you have them do it but it won't make a difference

Don't believe me if you don't want to but its the truth like it or not
