You say you are playing HD content. What HD content? Is it a DivX rip or XVid? If it is then what you are seeing on the screen could just be from the compression to the formats. Just because your AVI (or whatever) says it's HD doesn't mean it is real HD it just means that the output is 720 or 1080 lines high. Which could just mean 720 or 1080 lines of bad encoding.

let me try that...a colleague of mine bought a HD LCD connected to his Sony blu-ray player....boght a HDMI to HDMI cable for R300 at Audio Vision and the quality was crap....the minute he bought a IXOS cable that cost R800, it increased the quality by 500%

sounds like sh~t. HDMI is digital, expensive cables do jack.
