Got some new hardware in the house, so now I'm left with a very old laptop.

Specs
- CPU: Intel T2300 @ 1.66GHz x 2
- 512MB RAM
- 60GB hard drive

Already have 2 pc's that serve as download servers. Need some suggestions on what to do it.

I have something in mind, but will wait and see what you crazy bunch can come up with.

Thanks in advance...

If you go to a day/night game, watching from the grass verges and there's dew on the grass you can open the lappie like one of those mini chairs and protect yo' ass from getting wet.

I was thinking more along the lines of installing freenas or something. Or maybe as a media server for my kids with content for them.

Make it run your DHCP/DNS/Network/Firewall for your home? Much more secure than using the stuff built into routers...

Or get some security cameras and use it as a dedicated monitoring unit? Install chaingun turrets in your ceiling and use the lappy as a targeting device? No?

Although I think you're better off with a Raspberry Pi and just giving the laptop away to a poor kid who'll destroy it in a day...

I have a raspberry pi. Borrowing it to my parents as a media player... hmmm, making me think here...

Install 2x2GB RAM (probably DDR-2 667 or 800) for Windows 7 and 128GB SSD (just check if BIOS supports AHCI mode). With Core 2 Duo CPU it will be nice lappy. RAM size is only limitation, so upgrade RAM and you will see difference.

Just received the same generation device with 1680x1050 screen, I am happy. It is AMD chipset (no AHCI), so I can't even think about SSD, but I can take yours. :)
