I recently moved house for work, thinking it would be easy just move my DSL to new place but Telkom is just absolutely screwing me around. It’s been like 3 months and they keep saying there is no space on the exchange etc etc one BS story after the other.

I have been using my roommates Iburst and my phone for the time being but it is so slow and we can barely stay connected…
What other short term solutions are there I’m not even sure Telkom will upgrade my exchange.

I need a stable connection for raiding and vent Cell C looks good but how can I test the speed/signal before signing a 12 month contract ?
Thanks in advance guys

get a cell-c prepaid sim and use a umts 900 enabled phone.
use gsmarena.com to check the phone's specs.

I have a SE x10
HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 2 Mbps
thats umts 900 right ?

cell c has a 7day moneyback guarantee on their special with the dongle n whatnot. you do have to pay an admin/cancellation fee though if you return it

2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100

should work, albeit a a max of 7.2 and not 21mbps.
that said, hardly anyone is getting above 7.2 even with the 21mbps stick.
get a payg sim, get the android speedtest.net app and test your speed and coverage.
you may want to try some downloads on your pc and test jitter and ping as well if it works ok on your phone.

Depends where you moved to, if you are close to the Honeydew area in Joburg I know a few people that are very happy with wow on Neotell there
