So I have just purchased my wife a new car and looking to put a tracking device in. Which Company has the best products and service?

Ideally I would like a tracking device that can integrate into a Polo Vivo with out the need for a second remote and being a pain the @$$.

Vehicle: VW Polo Vivo Sedan (Used to go to work and picking up and fetching our children from school)

I would say tracker. They have the backing of the SA Police force (not that it means much). So all police vehicles are equipped with Tracker tracking devices. Just stay away from Matrix!!

If it is a cost buy - Beame R95+- p/m and accepted by insurers - Nice thing is it is totally independent as far as power and wiring and hence will not interfere with the cars electronics.

It is about the size of a bar-one chocolate and can be hidden in places others can't due to wireless installation.

Agreed, go for Tracker. I've never really had any issues with them, plus they call you to warn you when you're in a danger zone.

I use C-track - their system setup means that you don't need to carry a second remote.

Ctrack - it automatically performs a health check daily and you get contacted should it stop working... Unlike stories I've heard of others where they "test" it months later only to find it has not been working for quite a while!

Thread necro!!

So which system is the most cost effective if you need to log trips or view on the internet.

Logging trips means you rule out all the cheap RF signal units and look at the more premium satellite units. I pay Tracker R230/month for my Skytrax service ... easy mobile app and web portal, never had to activate the service luckily.

Paying R99 and I can see my trips.. maybe not submit to SARS though

Agreed. You can use their cellphone app to check the unit's battery status and 'health'. Unfortunately not able to track the vehicle from the app, but insurance does accept it.

Beame has a very high recovery rate, but being one of our products I am naturally biased towards it.

One of the engineers here got tired of his TV getting stolen (3 in a matter of a year) so he put two Beame units in the last TV he bought.

Edit : Make sure that if you do get a unit using a SIM card, that it will work outside of SA. Never know when your car is headed from Zim or Moz. I recently tested one of our units with a global SIM and it worked flawlessly.
