What tripod do you guys use?

The cheaper tripods are a lot ligher, so less stable. Especially outdoors - you don't want to see your camera + lens fall over and break.

Also, i think stability is key on shots where you have a very slow shutter speed so there's no movement (shake) in the final picture.

I may be wrong, but this is what makes sense to me..

Fair enough, but my "cheap takara" is solid as hell, with my k20d + 300 EX on it, i have tested it durability alot, and theres NO way itll fall over. Just my 5cents, the legs are as thick as, erm, my tv remote control.
I don't think I can afford 4 kilobucks for a "pro" pod now anyway, this will just have to work for the 4 times a year i use it

I just got it for much less, like R450 or something, anyone's welcome to try it out, probably the best cheap and dodgy tripod out there

I've got the takara as well. It is more than capable of holding up my Sony 230 with the 70 - 300mm lens.

I've got my two cheapo tripods (ok the National Geographic Manfroto wasn't that cheap) ready to go to light an interior decorators house shoot today and I forgot what a schlep they are.

Do you guys often use them with good light?

Manfroto Modi Maxi's are at Makro for R499. Given that they're $70 on Amazon, this is a good deal. Rated only to 1 kg, though.

Terrible tripods if you have an SLR and even consider taking your photography even a tad further.
Got one, can't hold my d80 + 18-135mm lens + sb600 flash or d80 + 70-300mm

Now I need to buy new tripod, hence this thread
