Hi guys

Need to replace the tyres on my Sandero ( has Barum at the moment) - what would you recommend and what price range are they in at Twt?

Basically don't want to spend an absolute fortune, but want something that lasts. How are Continental Tyres (see they on promo)

I prefer continentals , had them on my polo and got a good 70000 out of them

Conti Eco contact. On my second set. I got 85000km out of the previous set.

I know the difference with a road car, and the circumstances. But I can never put my trust/life in that brand again. A blanket "'nuf said" should never apply to anything.

Well depending on what your willing too spend will give us more insight also the tyre size will help, Conti is a good tyre but it is a soft compound tyre so you also need too look at where ur driving etc.......... Barum is a good tyrebut I think like a conti its a soft compound.

I've said it before and I'll say it again : get the cheapest legal tyres. I have used Roadstone, Intensa, Hero and a few other brands I can't even remember. They have never let me down and last just as long.

It is usually a good idea if possible to stick with the make / type of tyres that the car came out with new from the manufacture. The tyres are usually selected for specific reason and contribute to the fuel economy of the car and road holding.

If those are too expensive, ask the dealer for a tyre with similar properties to the original which is cheaper.

I have had Barum on my previous city golf and had no issues. Currently have Hankooks on the fiesta, it came with those, no issue either. Jetta had conti on also no issues. My mom bought some no names for her corsa, they lasted a year and had to be replaced due to bubbling in the sidewalls of the tyres which was a manufacturing fault. So I would not go for no-names, but then again I do not drive that many km. Any would rather that they last me 5 years.

Also when putting on the new tyres make sure they do the balancing correctly, you tend to have to watch them, this will also have an impact on how long the tyres will last and then only have the wheel alignment done.

As long as you stick to the same size and the well known brands you'll be fine.

Bridgestone, Firestone, Continental, Michelin, Yokohama, Goodyear, Dunlop.

I personally prefer Yokohama's as they grip a lot better than any other tires I've had on my cars and they last quite long as well. Had S-Drive's on my polo that lasted 75 000KM on the front and 90 000KM on the rear.

Are bridgestone firestone any good? Its the one with the all road hazard guarantee thing.

I just need a good safe tyre thats good for 60k + KM. Not for a performance car.

205/55/16 R1000 per tyre reasonable?

I fitted Firestones to our cabbie 'bout 5,000km or so ago, exactly because of their guarantee. They're fine. Not Michelin-quiet nor Pirelli-grippy, but fine.

I have the firestones with the all road hazard guarantee. No complaints so far.

Brawler im also looking around for 205/55/16. I see Pirelli's for R870 at autostyle

Thanks. I had a look at their website and I see they have Kendas for R680. That will be a hell of a saving as I am buying 4. Anyone used them?

I had a look at their store locator and it looks like they only in JHB and KZN? Are they legit?
