Ping : 65 +
Download : 6.74
Upload : 0.39

I am currently paying for a MWEB Premium 10 Mbps connection (10 down 1 up) .After countless hours on the phone with what I am sure is their whole staff they still leave me disappointed . The only thing they want to do is reset the line , do a port reset or log a fault with Telkom . I have given up on watching YouTube ,Netflix and Showmax not to even mention game (its a lag fest ) .

Line symptoms :
Super slow speed
Ping spikes (Got to love that 1 bar/ 160 ping)
Line completely drops (takes a about 2 min to reconnect then it disconnects after a while )
Some ports stay blocked even after requesting a port reset

So to anybody wanting to possibly sign up with them rather skip ahead if you value your sanity . I will be doing the same soon until they complete the fiber installation (any recommendations on temporary ISP ?)

Hi, please PM me your MWEB email address so that I can look into this for you.

Everyone I know that uses mweb suffers from the ping spikes at the same time so there's a big issue that they aren't being transparent about at all...

Mweb is broken for like 2 weeks now in Westville, emailed Mweb gaming no response, got them to do a fault report with telkom, still have not heard anything days after, constantly people working in Westville. Fiber perhaps? would be nice if there was some communication before hand.

Good Day, the call back was scheduled for today and we tried making contact with you.

The call back time was confirmed with you yesterday evening.

Well I see I'm not the only one in this boat. Just spent over an hour on the phone with Luthando @ mweb and ended up with slower speeds......like wtf.

10Mbps Uncapped Premium but im getting speeds like this......

http://www.speedtest.net/result/6193394052
http://www.speedtest.net/result/6193527337

on a 4 meg account

However on the openserve guest account I get around 9 megs

What is MWEB's response - its a telkom fault or something on my network is using the bandwidth :crylaugh:

Looks like Im cancelling tomorrow

Had the same problem last week. I'm on a 2mb line (yeah... it sucks). Anycase, Dl speed was at 0.68. Phoned Mweb technical. After each reset or test my DL speed went down, eventualy ended at 0.2.
Next day telkom "fixed" the line and back to 1.80 DL.

Morning Ramantoo, there is a way to test this theory.

The Telkom account stops all traffic on your network and only allows the connection to saix, therefore no other traffic will be able to impact on the speeds you obtain.

The MWEB account allows for connections to the internet while testing, therefore the test results can be degraded.

Please provide me the test results you obtained for your MWEB account and netstat results. This will show us whether there is any traffic running on your network, while you are testing.

In order to do a netstat do the following steps.

1 : Click on start then click run. A new window will open.
2: Type cmd and press ok. A black dos window will appear.
3: Type netstat -a and press enter. The netstat will run
4 : right click in there and select mark. Then highlight the data with your curser and press enter to copy. Then paste the data here using ctrl V

****Cropped here as text is too long

There is a better way to post screen dumps of this sort into a post on the form, which makes it easier to read and analyse. Use the code function.

Code:
(paste the results of your screen dump here)

I have dumped the Netstat directly to file and uploaded to drop box
One is netstat -a and other is netstat -a -b

Thanks for the account details via inbox messaging.

I checked your account and you made contact with us today.

The speed test results you obtained on MWEB and two other ISP's where all affected by poor speeds.

It was not just specific to MWEB.

This is the reason it was referred to Telkom.

However, if the guest account readings are close to line speeds; then it could be something running on your network impacting on the speed test readings.

This shows that its not a line related issue, as the guest account results proved.

I will try and have a specialist call back arranged for you, in order for us to further assist you.

I am also about to question Mweb on this. Currently CSGO is utterly unplayable. Ping is between 80-200ms and averages around the 140-160ms mark. When it is good, say about 40ms, then the loss acts like redlining a rev counter. Seriously, you guys must know that something is up?

Why is mweb investigating specific cases and not the issue as a whole, its obviously not a issue on account level.

I've been a happy mweb customer for 4 years, all of a sudden when I move location(down the street) and down from the premium package i get this type of service ~~~ 260-300ms internationally, whats up with that mweb?

Whats been causing this for the last 2 weeks, why not just share the information you having stating any issues instead of just asking for mweb account details.

How to lose customers 101 by mweb..

I think they are addressing the issue, but that there is no immediate resolution. I am also sure that the CSGO related issue is not on account level, but that it is in relation to the servers and the connection in-between. This is an assumption.

I don’t play on international servers so I can’t comment on that user experience, but when the CSGO servers were ‘idle’ I had a more consistent user experience at 180-220ms ping by playing on the European servers than I am experiencing now. It is not that my pings and loss are only bad, but erratic. Strangely, it is like there is a limitation, the ping won’t get better than say 100ms, like an invisible wall. Maybe it is a peering issue… but some local servers are better than others, except that the experience is bad at each one.
