I *may* be given the opportunity to go down an airstrip ... almost 3km.

I reckon I'd see the speedo get to 230km/h+ which I feel is 220km/h+ true speed. Some friends reckons closer to 200km/h which I think is insane.

What do you guys reckon I'll see (true or clock)?

1400kg
Reef Altitude
185KW / 410nm torque.

I did 230km/h in my Jetta 1.8T (132kw) on the N4, clock speed, so I'd reckon you should get a bit more...

BTW, what car is it? You might be limited to 248km/h. :)

Yea - C30 T5 (thanks tau1z ;)

I tried explaining that one is doing roughly 150km/h after 500m ... I doubt that one will only get 50km/h over the next 2.5km.

I see some say it's limited to 149mph ... 238km/h

I guess around 22x true km/h.

Also dont forget to include braking distances in that almost 3km strip...

I sure I saw on Top Gear that the Nissan GTR (I think ... the sporty one you know) has a GPS system that turns off the limited when the cars arrives at a race track. Neat toy I reckon.

I think it also instantly voids your warranty ;)

That thing pulls, hey.....it pulls....
i'd go with a 230 true....3km....hmmm...200..?

Here's my prediction.
Quarter Mile in +-15sec at about 155km/h
1km in about 30sec at 185-190km/h
at 190km/h you'll cover another 1km in 18sec. That's not a lot of time left for acceleration. Lets say you sprint for 2km and use that extra 1km to stop I reckon you'll probably get up to +-200-210km/h.

I think it depends how much distance you want to use for braking. A stock ford Focus ST takes about 7-8sec to get from 180-200 in ideal conditions so getting to 220km/h will take even longer and more distance.

I'm actually really curious what speed you end up reaching. Take a GPS with you. :)

Well at 225km/h he'll need about 300m braking distance from where you start pushing down on the brake pedal.

I would think though that the C30 will be governed at about 170km/h maybe a bit more. I guess we will find out soon :D Don't forget to post your results.

I'm with you and agree with you up till this point.

After that, I honestly have no idea what to expect ;) I know imy in gear acceleration are (80-140km/h in 9 seconds in 4th) - but I'm not sure at what point resistance prevents me from accelerating at a speed? I'd guess 500m for breaking - but again, no clue and now that I think of it, it is a little soon. So that 2.9km stretch may 'only' be 2km of acceleration time.

I'll take a GPS for sure - and very good prediction.

Limited to 170km/h? Typo?

Will be taking a GPS with me

Nope no typo, also no idea. I'm just thinking of the Volvo = Safety thing and whether they would "allow" it to go that fast. The C30 is not exactly a "sports car" as such where one can expect higher limits imposed, but like I said, I have no idea at all.
