What will I get ?

Nope no typo, also no idea. I'm just thinking of the Volvo = Safety thing and whether they would "allow" it to go that fast. The C30 is not exactly a "sports car" as such where one can expect higher limits imposed, but like I said, I have no idea at all.

u dont say...

I'm guessing you one of those who actually believe the numbers on a speedo reflects the speed a car can achieve...nevermind, I understand.

no, i am fully aware the manufacturers are ambitious
the c30 T5 is not exactly a sluggish car (almost identical engine to Focus ST), and thinking it will be limited to 170 just because volvo's are "safe" cars indicates a somewhat naive/limited knowledge.

Also considering my 1.6 polo gets to 170km/h, i would say it wouldnt be hard to work out that the t5 would get well well past that

Well I have an idea. Sport Auta tested the Volvo C30 T5 in 2008, the model had 169kW and 320Nm. The top speed they got it up to was 240km/h.

Are you doing a standing start on the strip or is there a bleed on where you can build up some speed? I think that would make a big difference to the overall speed.

Wow yes that's quite impressive. A quick look around I saw some mention on a few Volvo forums that the European model is limited to 130 mph (208 km/h) and it seems the US model is limited to 140 mph (224 km/h). I find that quite odd seeing that the SA Volvo site reports the 2010 C30 T5 (same output as you mentioned) to have a top speed of 240km/h as well, which holds true for the tire speed rating (W - up to 270km/h) they come out with.

Either way, I am surprised that they don't limit the speed more in SA, then again, safety standards have gone for a loop in the interest of profit I guess.

Out of interest - what happens when you reach the speed limiter on a car? I know when I occasionally bounce of my rev limiter its like someone pulling up the handbrake - almost caused me to crash once or twice.... hope a speed limiter isn't the same....at 240km/h

Day or Night?
Cold engine or Hot engine?

Also your car is chipped, if its a good chip, you will get a high top end, if its a bad chip, you might not get 200 :p
I say push for 250 clock speed :)

It simply does not go faster than XXXkm/h is all really. If you hit your rev limiter at the same time there might be some spluttering, but that's about it.

On an M3 the needle just bounces back every time it reaches the red line.

I'm actually not even sure - but I'd tend to think standstill.

My Civic 150i was limited to 182km/h and while not quite as violent - it did jerk back at the limiter ...

So, have you got a date yet? or was the answer no? :D

I find out on Sunday morning - to do it Sunday after noon ;)

So day time (as someone asked earlier)

I'm not supposed to be going down at 200km/h+ ... so no supports ;)

He didn't manage to organise today :(

He's an ATC and needs to get approval for runway maintenance - but never happened today - bleh!
