What would be better

64bit drivers are widely available for most common pc parts... Maybe scanner will be a hassle...

U gonna be using this pc for gaming? Do the cheap-way upgrade on it, one month you replace the mobo, next month the cpu and then gpu and so on...

So, I installed XP64bit and almost all the drivers. Just can't find the SM Bus Driver. Still only sees 3.25GB ram. Also doesn't boot with 8GB installed.

Do I need to change anything?

That doesn't seem right. Are you sure it is the 64bit version of XP? Another question would be if it ever worked with the 8gigs of ram? Maybe the mobo doesn't support 8gigs?

Definitely 64bit XP, when it boots with the XP logo it says 64bit Edition.

When I was using 32 bit XP it booted with all the ram in just didn't see it.

I'm done with this, gonna installed 32bit Vista Home Premium with 4GB Ram. Should be more than enough for my needs

Thanks for your help SB

Your not really helped if the pc ain't working like it is supposed to. :p

It's definitely all about Dell and the way they stop us from doing more than they anticipated.

Next step I'll buy a new mobo then a new chip. Hopefully I can get one that will fit in this case as I quite like it.

I think most mobos will fit in the case...
