Its a 2004 model, thats about all I know. I know it depends on the condition, mileage ect...

This is the story. I sold my brother in law my old bakkie. My mistake was letting him pay it off.
Now, 6 months down the line, he can't afford to pay for the damn thing anymore, and he has basically stuffed the gearbox up so I don't want it back. He still owes me R15k on the thing.

He has now come to me with this proposition. A friend of the family needs a bakkie urgently, has a gearbox for it, and is willing to swap the CBR900 for it. My brother in law wants to swap the bakkie for the bike and sell the bike and pay me off.

What do y'all think?

Well, it will be worth a lot more than 15K, I can assume you of that.

Seems like it could get between 25k and 40k in with junkmail. (however, this depends on the condition)

You will most likely find its not a 2004 model. Its a registered 2004 model. Your CBR Fireblades came out in tons of flavours and models... started with the old CBR900 in the 1990's (899cc). then it went up to CBR 900 (919 cc in around 1998 / 1999)... the CBR 900 (929 in 2000/2001) ... CBR 900 (954 in the 2002/2003's).. then the CBR 1000's came out in 2004 onwards.

Value... its most likely got high mileage by now if its the early 899cc models unless its a grey import... I would say its worth around 26k maybe 30k if its got **fairly low mileage**... I have seen the 919's got for around R32k nowdays.

play it clever. tell your brother he doesnt owe you anything if you can swop your bakkie with the bike. sell the bike for R25000 and you make R10000 cash profit. and your brother walks away unscathed.

Have you got the engine number?

Get it and check that it's not a Grey and then swap it in a heart beat :p
