What's a good interest rate?

When I purchased my Hyundai iX35 about 3 months ago I got prime -0.75. Not too bad!

I got 11% fixed last year through Nedbank. Loan amount was R200 000, no residual... :) Not the best ever rate, but not bad at all

first time buyer, with no credit history, and I got 6.5% *gotta love working for a bank at times* *ducks*

Dang! That is a bad rate - I feel ripped off after I got 12.5% fixed last year. Do you have a bond that you are paying off registered on your name?

Got this tip from the local Hyundai dealer, apparently if you finance an amount below R250k they cannot penalize you if you make big down payments on it. So the trick is to only pay the 10% deposit upfront, apply for finance on the full outstanding about which will give you a better rate and then after that you can pay in the rest of what you would have included in the deposit. My sister did that when she wrote of her Jazz and got an i10 because they only paid out for the Jazz a month after she got the i10.

Got a i20 last month.

Finance amount was R 150 K.

NO Deposit.

I played around with Wesbank and I bank with Standard.:p

Wesbank offered prime.
Standard gave me prime - 0.5 % and i settled with them.:D NO DEPOSIT.

Excellent credit history does help, i was debtless at time of application.
