What's for lunch?

4.5 hours to slowly boil and then deep fry in a potjie.

Can barely move now...

At the in laws in Brits this year and decided that I'd rather pay R200 per person and have Christmas buffet at a lodge than spend hours preparing something for everyone. And I can keep the kids busy at the playground instead of making small talk with my racist father in law. Best money spent this year.

So we had mussels, crumbed mushrooms, chicken livers, prawn cocktail, cheese and cold meat platter and a variety of salads and breads for starters.

Lamb potjie, gammon, beef roast, lemon garlic chicken, savoury rice, caramel pumpkin fritters, spinach, green beans, stamp mielies and a variety of creamy sauces for mains.

Dessert was variety of ice creams, malva pudding, chocolate mousse, trifle, peppermint crisp tart, sago pudding, creme caramel and hot or cold custard.

Feels like I don't need to eat again until next year. But I know I'll be hungry again before we get back to Pretoria.

Sushi at some back alley Chinese restaurant.

And according to my wife it has been a thing for like ever now, but I honestly saw and had fried sushi for the first time today.

It is different but delicious in its own way.
