What's for lunch?

Toasted egg, cheese, and homemade biltong.*

Yum...

*Decided to try make biltong out of big, tenderised steak pieces. It works a charm if you want some cheap, quick biltong. Took a one hour soak in my vinegar, salt, sugar, MSG, and chilli solution. Then tapped the excess moisture off, salted and spiced it with coriander, touch of cumin, lots of black pepper, and hung it in the box for two days.

Turned out great as long as you slice it against the grain. Very tender, and very delicious...

1) What kind of vinegar?
2) What kind of box?

Malt vinegar. I bought the box off the net a few years ago (BoB). Simple little perspex box with a low wattage light on the bottom and computer fan built into the top of the box...

Mince (leftover) in a toasted sandwich. Haven't done that in a while.

Washed down with some black coffee

Homemade chicken soup

  1. Cook whole chichen, stripped from skin and fat, with cloves, coriander, salt and pepper.
  2. Debone and brake up in small pieces
  3. Place in cooker. Add soupmix (should be cleaned and left in water overnight)
  4. Add 3 big carrots (grated)
  5. Add a packet of brown onion or mushroom soup (desolved)
  6. Fill up with water and add some salt to taste
  7. Mix through well and cook for another 40 min

Note: Add whatever other veggies you feel like

Hamburgers today, as it's stormy weather in Cape Town & a braai might not be pleasant.

Made a small spicy prawn and avo salad just for a light lunch. No I wish I had made more.
