Big fan of the Spur Frozen patties but yesterday our Checkers didn't have stock.
Spotted these next to the empty spot and I do love a Steers burger at times.
This was just disappointing. Shrinkage was immense and just doesn't have the flavour like the Spur patties.
Won't buy again.

Did you bake the boats and hollow them out?
No didn't bake the bread. Bought 2 loaves of Sourdough bread at the Bakery near me. Just hollowed them out and filled. Have made the bread myself before but I can never get a hard crust on it, it always goes soft and soggy then the sauce pours out. It needs a hard almost Pretzel like crust to hold the sauce. My dough never comes out like that, it's always soft and pillowy and utterly useless for this recipe.
Cheese and beer sauce is very good but very rich to so a little goes a long way.

Do you use Shaoxing wine? I have never heard of it before, do you use an alternative?

I use dry sherry as an alternative. Rice wine is a very common Chinese ingredient and it's hard to find so most recipes recommend using sherry instead
I don't know if you used to watch Ken Hom loooooong time ago on SABC 3. He used shaoxing rice wine in almost everything and each time he used to say substitute dry sherry.
