I must admit I'm getting a bit annoyed with these steakhouses and the options provided with their steaks.... It would be nice to see a more balanced meal on the plate... Some decent veg, and not the SA staple creamed spinach and butternut.

Hussar Grill offers a lot of decent veg.

Well it’s been a while, but they did last I was there anyway.

I shall have to give them a try, but yeah their menu has options beyond the standard creamed spinach and butternut that is so prevalent in SA....

but what other veg goes well with a steak

mushroom sauce and other varieties of mushrooms do well

creamed spinach and butternut as well

baked potato

sweet potato fries

nothing else i think goes well

a nice veggie bake will go well though

Literally any other vegetable as long as it's well prepared.

Non-creamed spinach (i.e. garlic wilted, balsamic and honey)
Asparagus
Roasted beetroot
Grilled mixed vegetables
baby roasted potatoes
lightly charred broccoli
braised endives
honey caramelised carrots

etc

Precisely...

I'm being monumentally pedantic really, its just something thats started to peeve me of late. Go out for a nice steak dinner when you are flush with cash, and you get a piece of steak and 1 side (largely just starch). It would be nice to get a good piece of steak and the rest of a proper meal at the same time.

Hussar Grill was always my favourite South African steakhouse. Actually the only steakhouse I'd eat at. Turn n Tender is just a step away from Spur.

I like the meat at Butcher Block... but they suffer from the Creamed Spinach and Butternet disease.
