pork chops, pork chop and more pork chops, might braai some spare rips tomorrow night though.

Bought a pig, and now we have to eat it.

It's a bit late ... but I eventually got around this evening to make a spicy mussel and mushroom soup.

It's 20:20 and I'm still busy with it. It should be done in about 20-30 minutes from now.

This is a pic I grabbed from the internet ... but mine will look ... it usually does look something like this.

recipe master ....and pics of yours :D

do you use frozen half shell mussels ?

Left over biryani. It's always better :D

For sure.....had left over chicken biryani too. Dunno why they don't cook it and leave it in the fridge for 2 days to get 'ripe' before serving it up. And thanks for spelling it right. In SA they call it breyani for some reason

so today's supper was at daruma. seared tuna and fried vegies and egg fried rice for me. same for my wife, but with fillet. dessert was deep fried ice cream. :O

there was also two chicks on a date next to us.

"best anniversary dinner ever" said my wife.

reminds me of that time i bought rotis at the chatsworth mall after doing some work at woolworths there. terrible brittle ones. and R4 each! what?! my wife needs to learn how to make them. soon.

You can get some reasonable ones in midrand. Wait are you in dbn?

yip, durban. best rotis come from overport area. chatsworth seems like they don't care. samoosas are expensive too. it's like they expect most of their customers from umhlanga/hillcrest.

my mother in law makes good ones. they stay soft forever. my wife tried, but came out like tacos. :D

They are so good when you make them yourself but they take a bit of time.

Add extra oil in your dough and you don't have to dab the rotis with oil when cooking. They still get soft and you save time.

i was watching my wife's aunt make them yesterday. missed the doughing part and came in at the cooking bit. she rolls them out flat, flours them, then folds four sides over and makes a square and then rolls if out flat again. i realised that's how you get them to puff up.

we didn't do that so much. :D

i'm very keen to try make my own one day. i think whe i'm on leave i'm going to master two of the three most difficult kitchen skills: rotis and rice. the third is crumpets. i'd post a pic of my last crumpet attempt, but it's nsfw... or home. people should actually never see it.

Shayona sells decent rotis. Also, the chapati's that you can buy from the supermarket are not bad.. slightly thicker that what we are used to.. but not too bad.
