But I must say ... it tastes bloody awesome.

And my haemorrhoids are cheering. Because I eat way too much meat, and too often.

Quick sweet and sour pork I made tonight.

Pork tenderloin pieces. Marinaded in egg white and corn flour. Then dipped in seasoned white flour and potato flour. Deep fried. Made a quick sweet and sour sauce with water, ginger, garlic, chilli, sugar, vinegar, szechuan peppers, star anise and corn flour slurry.

Took 15 minutes. Asian food is so damn simple...
 
i tried pineapple pork once. once.

not even my wife (still my girlfriend at that time) had any compliments.


today's supper was a braai at the in-laws. steak, chops, rashers, mutton wors, cheese&bacon wors and prawns with pots of baked beans, broccoli, chakalaka and a salad. you can tell i went to indian people for a braai.

my wife doesn't get white people. we invite you for a braai, but you must bring your own things. basically we're saying, "come share my fire".
 
Easter Bunny, us whities typically have bring and braais. Sides are usually provided but you're right, it's more a case of come share my fire... :D
 
meat is expensive, but when indian people put a chow, they put a chow.

it's quite different to the way my mom used to cook. she only made enough for one meal for us and maybe a sandwich tomorrow.

every now and then when i went to visit my wife for the weekend, her mom would have made so much tinned fish biryani (that's a top chow) that we'd eat friday night, saturday morning and maybe again sunday morning.

Hahaha. When we visit our white friends we always see their white friends bringing their own stuff. the first time it happened we asked why they didn't say it was a bring n braai because we felt a little embarrassed. They were like are you crazy, you guys always cater everything when we come over to your place. :D
 
The lime curd tart is a big success. Going to take it over to my brother in law's braai (NOT bring and braai) this afternoon minus two generous slices :whistle:. I'm going to start incorporating limes much more rather than lemons. They've got a much more subtle flavour. Crust is a bit thick as it is for a larger dish and slightly over browned but taste is killer.

DJ, are you talking about the Ben and Jerry's, cookie Dough ice cream ? ? If you are, pray tell which exact Spar you are talking about. My daughter loves the stuff.
