Whats the best android phone?

Well, the specs says HTC Desire HD, but its really what you want in a phone. The DHD doesn't have a second camera for video calling afaik, but all the other things are there. Highest MP camera for android phones I think.

The next best thing is the Samsung Galaxy S, which have a gpu if you are into gaming and also has a secondary camera. The people over at gsmarena seems to think its video camera is of better quality than the DHD.

Then it is the HTC Desire, it also has a secondary camera, but unlike the two mentioned above it won't be able (I don't know where I read it) to make use of allot of the multi-touch features that might come out (Android doesn't have to much multi-touch stuff either way.)

But that is essentially the big 3

If not the Samsung Nexus S also has to be in the mix

And the HTC Desire Z if you want a keyboard.
Personally I'm a Galaxy S fan, since I have one. The battery life is good for a high end phone, it can take some punishment and still make it through the day.
 
I reckon Milestone 2 if you want a keyboard. The IPS display used on it is exquisite, arguably better than any other! Also it's relatively cheap.
 
ive had them all from nexus one to desire to desire HD.... but nothing touches my Nexus S !!!

The what now? The Desire doesn't have a secondary camera... The multi-touch issue is because of a limitation of the screen; the Nexus One has the same issue. Basically, it can recognise 2 points of contact but it gets confused if they get too close in either X or Y axis.

Even though I have one, I wouldn't remotely consider a Desire today. Mine's nearly a year old; it was the business when it launched but it cannot compete with the more recently launched 'droids. Not without a lot of rooting and flashing and tinkering, far beyond what the average user will be inclined to go through...

Vodacom will get the Nexus S soon & it is "pure" Android.

Personally I like HTC Sense and the build quality of HTC phones, so extremely happy with my Desire HD. Samsung is too plasticky for me.

I while heartedly agree. there is always something new and sexy coming. Once we get the nexus we will be crying for the atrix.

Agree - Just do your research properly! (Eg. Don't buy an X10 - you'll never get past 2.1)

So Sony Ericsson couldn't be bothered to put out an update for their own phone so some hackers had to get together and figure out a way to do it.

As it should be. I buy the hardware, I install whatever I want on it, just like a pc. If I wanted to wait for the manufacturer to update the thing, (and spend twice the money) I would have gotten an Applephone.

Yes you are right, the Desire doesn't have a secondary camera. That multi touch issue doesn't seem to bad. The Desire still seems like one of the best phones on the market to me, it is certainly standing the test of time.
