What's the difference between these two inverters?

Hi!

I'm about to order this inverter (going for deep cycle batteries, will upgrade at a later stage).

Someone on Reddit posted this one and I can't see the difference apart from price, is it the solar controler? The fan?

Thanks all :)

The brand of the inverter:

  • Mecer Axpert Type 3000VA (3000W) PURE Sine Wave Inverter (1200W PWM Solar Controller)
  • GeeWiz Axpert Type 3000VA (3000W) PURE Sine Wave Inverter - PV18-3K (60A PWM Solar Controller)

BTW, can the minimum battery voltage be set for either of these inverters ?

I need one that will shut off if the battery voltage goes below 12v per battery, as deep cycle batteries are at 50% DoD at 12v, and suffer damage below that.

Many of the lower end inverters/UPS's damage the batteries, as they allow them to go too low (for example, 10 volt per battery).

And can one adjust the charging rate, with these regular blackouts the charging rates need to be increased.

Yes you can.

No difference really, just 1200W PWM vs 1400W PWM.

Actually looks very good....
was looking at this one:

but the geewiz one looks much better?
2kW vs 3kw and cheaper?
if i understand correctly....

Thanks! Where are you getting the 1400W from? I was confused cos the one says 60A PWM Solar Controller and the other says 1200W PWM Solar Controller and I don't know how to compare those two things. Researching this stuff is doing my head in. I have Std 10 Science, lol. I'm trying my best :'D

Anyway, I'm going to go for the cheaper one. The Geewiz guy said 'The one unit is just cheaper because we import it directly, and in my opinion it is more reliable compared to the Mecer.' So ya.

There's a 14-20 working day wait for the Geewiz one, but I'll have to suck that up. (See my other reply for the Geewiz guy's response to my question.)

I sent them an email....the only downside is that solar charging can only be done with a lithium battery.
I think this is the inverter for me....will probably go for deep cycle also.

I assume i can upgrade at a later stage to lithium?

huh? why only on a lithium? doesn't make sense

60A times 24V

They talk ****
ok otherwise....Do you guys think its a good buy?
I don't know much about inverters....trying to learn and decide quickly...

I know Lithium is the way forward but I also don't mind upgrading the batteries in 2 years.

Yes it looks good.

ok not really related....but they charge R795 for delivery....?
I understand it's heavy but its not a big item....
I am sure 2 people can carry it with no issues....

EDIT: anyways i got it, without delivery (they are not too far from me), hopefully me and my girlfriend will manage or i will have to get muscles somewhere (we have 14-20 days to do weight lifting...:-))

I too plan to upgrade to Lithium when these go (I'm going for the upgrade to deep cycle batteries now).

Note: Get the cabinet that can fit Hubble batteries x2 - they are bigger than the deep cycle ones and this comes with the smaller case. I asked to switch out to the bigger case, it's R400 more.

I was going to wait for a while before upgrading the batteries......what are you going to do with the 2 batteries provided?
