What's your freelance rate for projects?

Good luck paying "a couple of hundred" for your ecommerce site.:erm:

Generally, what I charge is dependant on what I'm doing for it. Static webs are cheaper than dynamic, and by dynamic I mean applications - CMS upwards.

Last year I charged around R200 per hour - but my new jobs are getting a higher rate as my time is more precious to me than before, and I know what I'm worth. Plus I've spent a few $$$ on books that have (hopefully) enhanced my skills, and I believe that makes me a more all-round dev, and more valuable to the client.

I guess it all comes down to what you believe you are worth, and what you believe the client will pay. If you think you are robbing your client, phone a competitor (anonymously) and ask what they would charge for the same type of work. You may be surprised.

What books have you bought? I'll be buying a couple of dev books but not sure what to buy. Head first stuff?
I'll probably spend around R2k - R5k in the coming months. One book at a time.

Thanks to above reply about the books, I will also be looking into some Web Design Books for the near future.

Cheers
