The thread isn’t about Signal (I’ve never used it, so can’t comment), it’s about WhatsApp/Meta (and can throw other “free” social media services in with them). You don’t pay for any of it, but they farm out your information to the highest bidder for directed ads, ergo, YOU are the product.

So then if I DID pay for it way back when it first came out does that mean I can ask for no ads?

All this extra junk they are cramming into WhatsApp is slowing it down more and more. My current phone sometimes takes up to a minute just to open WhatsApp
