Avoid losing WhatsApp image quality with this trick

MyBroadband tested sending media files as documents on WhatsApp and found it significantly impacted image quality, especially on higher resolution images.

When sending an image or video over WhatsApp, the file is scaled to a lower resolution to save on data, which reduces the quality of the received image.

Interesting. Never really had to need to send hi-def images via whatsapp though. But good to know.

I use Piktures app, It ask me everytime what size the pic needs to be everywhere I send it too.

Hit attach, then document, select the media file.

Send your picture as a document instead of going to the gallery...

Always have to do this for the Android saddos on Whatsapp when you take photos

Airdrop and iMessage send the full quality.

I have noticed that the document file (file name ending in .jpg) does not retain the full image quality once it gets forwarded again (as a document) by the first recipient.

Any suggestions?

Been doing this for years. Same applies to videos. Didn't really think about it as a trick, just an easy way to send files without compression.

My biggest issue with Apple.

Whatsapp on iOS is horrible.

Especially this part, you cannot send images as documents like on Android
