Whatsapp not working on Cell C mobile data

A friend of mine has a Cell C contract on an iPhone 6 and for the last month or so she has been unable to use Whatsapp off wifi.

Daily calls to Cell C and visits to the store have not helped, in fact she was told that it is a problem with the iPhone and that she should "buy out the rest of her contract and go to another network". I mean seriously, if Cell C cannot provide service and they are giving up so easily then the contract release should be free of charge.

All the settings on the phone seem to be correct.
 
Def speak to the Cell C rep here. Should get sorted.

Sounds like she disabled mobile data for WhatsApp use in settings. People make changes and forget what they do

No the mobile settings are all active and correct, unless there is some obscure hidden setting we are overlooking.

My daughter has the same problem. IPhone 6 too.

Tested yesterday, loaded R15.. then whatsapp works. When she is off the bundle.. nothing. Won't connect at all.

The issue has been identified on iPhones. We kindly request that you ensure that your IOS software is 11,3 or 11,4 respectively. Additionally, kindly ensure that you have a positive balance on your account in order for the WhatsApp bundle to function.

If you say a positive balance. She had 2 positive (500meg) WA bundles loaded. What more is needed?

Ps I'm 99% sure she is on the 11.3. But will confirm.

No, your airtime will not be depleted. It will deplete the Whatsapp bundle first.

Thank you for the reply. Looks like it solved the problem.

Just a question/suggestion. Why the R1+ balance? The problem now is she has app (instagram), chowing her positive balance/airtime. Which then kills her Whatsapp access.

So you have to block ALL you apps on your phone to not use internet just wifi. Instead of you could just have the bundle.. no blocking required.

How do you prevent other traffic from the device from depleting that positive balance and thus rendering your whatsapp bundle useless? :confused:

In IOS you need to block all your apps to access mobile/Cellular data. What a PITA...

Why can't the WA bundle just work on 0 balance?
 
it seems to be working now, my friend said she received a couple of calls from Cell C yesterday but didn't have to adjust any settings.

Thanks Cell_C if you had anything to do with the resolution.
