Whatsapp privacy fails

There are instances where this is more than valid so do not just make it out to be childish and or a privacy excuse just because it does not suit your own personal preferences/believes.

Many people have my number for business purposes and they are billed when they contact me for business purposes. When they however see me on WhatsApp they try and chat with me and I guess one can say 'score a freebie' and these chats are usually outside office hours, some even after midnight and if I do not reply I'm being told I'm rude etc..

I do however use chat apps to stay connected to family and friends. I thus prefer WeChat where I do not need to show my number and where I can use a user name which I can give to family and friends and thus not be bothered by people who possibly have my phone number.

Now is that childish?

People who are single and date use it. If things go south you just delete them from bbm. You don't need to go through the pain of changing numbers. Makes stalking harder.

Or you can just block them on WhatsApp and if need be block them on Android phonebook so they cant phone you.

You don't get it. They already have your number then. What's to stop them from adding you as a contact from another instance of whatsapp on a different phone?

When people block me on whatsapp I like to use their number in every single promotional form I can find :D

Have never had that happen to me, and cant say I am worried about something like that. Seems like a rather extreme "what if" scenario.

Instead of being a vindictive little sh*t you should rather do some self examination and ask why so many people are blocking you ;)

Anyway the answer to this is to have separate work and personal numbers. You blurred the line already by giving your personal number out.

I use my mobile for both business and personal matters as do 99% of other users. So its not a matter of me already having given out my 'personal' number but me only having the one number. And no, the solution is not to have two numbers but to have better privacy settings on something like WhatsApp.

There is a feature to block people you don't want to chat with. It's that simple.
 
Chevron stop trolling. People are gonna move to BBM or Telegram both have awesome features unlike whatsapp. To block someone requires time on your part also someone can just stalk you based on your number without talking to you. You wouldn't add your boss on Facebook? Think about whatsapp...

Its not that simple. When you do block them they accuse you of being rude and such. As one poster here already 'jokingly' said, he adds their numbers to promotional sites etc..

You will be surprised how p****ed off 'normal' everyday clients can get when you block them on a social media network. Some take it as a personal insult and some just go way over the top.

Its best to avoid a situations like these completely thus the reason for wanting more/better privacy on this kind of network.

Just inform them politely that WhatsApp is not a formal communication channel for work related queries and they will not be responded to on there. I did it with one of my clients and explained that for tracking purposes only my email may be used for work related queries. He appologised and the issue was resolved.

Otherwise if they send you a query on WhatsApp, give them a call from your work phone and use the call log to bill them.

WTF you on about?

I prefer Telegram and use it daily. Just the desktop app makes it worth it. I'm just calling people out on their bull**** excuses.

So you feel that because you don't care about keeping your number private that others have bullschit excuses to do so? Remind me again why you feel you can dictate to others?
