WhatsApp to implement underage user ban

I have my son use it because its cheap..

Looks like i'll move to telegram for that

Final nail in the coffin.
It might well be. If kids have to move to another platform so will their parents. It's not like their aren't better alternatives.

Good! First cellphone or technology I had in my life I was 18! Don`t believe children should have access to any social media to be honest! Just a good excuse for lazy parenting!!

Uh sweetpea, whatever, but it is also GOOD parenting to be able to stay in contact with your kids and for them to have a means to contact you.

What is the point of an age restriction on a messaging app?

WA is a primary means of communication, not social media.

If whatsapp didn't collect personal information I guess this won't be an issue? Maybe they should make an option that anyone under 16 no personal info will be collected?

I guess in the rest of the world they can grab your info from the age of 13?

Ask the government implementing it. The companies have to comply.
Will they also implement it for sms and phone calls? Technically there's no difference. Somehow I think they have a hand in this.

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook. A Social media platform. They make money from your Privacy. Governments put regulations in place that are supposed to protect the young and stupid. Technically there is a big difference to how the different platforms collect data and what data they collect. Europe recently made it much more strict. That is why every damn website you visit ask if they can collect your info. Flippen annoying.
