Use it if you're using a split pin otherwise bend the tab in on the locknut ,even on some squished nuts you must still bend the tab into the groove .also used for wire binding .not needed if the nut is castlelatedI am busy with those and the new kit came with this, it wasn't fitted previously so I am wondering if it has any functional purpose or us just purely for looks? Yeah, there is a split pin which I am used to, struggling to understand the purpose for this as it looks like it would rotate with the nut anyway.Use it if you're using a split pin otherwise bend the tab in on the locknut ,even on some squished nuts you must still bend the tab into the groove .also used for wire binding .not needed if the nut is castlelated
The pins will prevent it turning once the split pin is pushed through the little legs sticking out ,the standard non castlelated nut will go on first get tensioned to the correct spring pull tension then the nut cover gets put on and the split pin inserted ,usually thr legs are different spaced to allow for different alignmentsYeah, there is a split pin which I am used to, struggling to understand the purpose for this as it looks like it would rotate with the nut anyway.
Can get quite exciting on a front wheel thatSimply leave it off, and let us know how the experience goes.

Probably a DonkiekarYes it depends on what vehicle it is
Oh? I thought that's what the split pin is for, so you bend the protruding teeth into the gaps on the nut?The pins will prevent it turning once the split pin is pushed through the little legs sticking out ,the standard non castlelated nut will go on first get tensioned to the correct spring pull tension then the nut cover gets put on and the split pin inserted ,usually thr legs are different spaced to allow for different alignments

Yes, you could even ring the doorbell with the front wheel when that happens, if luck is on your sideCan get quite exciting on a front wheel that
Toyota Quantum I thinkProbably a Donkiekar
That's my problem, I have changed the bearing before and the kits did not come with it, not complaining though, it's a complete kit and even came with a set of nice, shiny dust covers so I can throw the old rusty ones away. I don’t want to leave anything out if there is a functional purpose for it.If this is the rear neither side of my Corsa B have these... Just the split pin.
No ,you only use the adaptor with a non castelated nut ,with castlelated nut you only use the split pin ,so if yours has a castelated nut ,throw the adaptor into file 13 .Oh? I thought that's what the split pin is for, so you bend the protruding teeth into the gaps on the nut?

Which brand did you get and pricing? I need to do a rear one soon and could also do with new dust caps. That's my problem, I have changed the bearing before and the kits did not come with it, not complaining though, it's a complete kit and even came with a set of nice, shiny dust covers so I can throw the old rusty ones away. If it's a standard nut you should have the adaptor as well .If this is the rear neither side of my Corsa B have these... Just the split pin.
when people can't find a split pin and use a bent nailYes, you could even ring the doorbell with the front wheel when that happens, if luck is on your side
Sounds fancy like German, I can't remember the pricing as I've had them for a while, but I would recall if the price was as fancy as the German sounding name, they were probably nothing out of the ordinary.Which brand did you get and pricing? Aha, I see now, thanks for that. Here's an adaptor over a standard nut .
