When a taxi owner is delusional

The insurance alone on this will make this not worth it.

The driver's door does not close properly and the piece just below it is hanging at an odd angle.

Please look up the meaning of the word "mint" and adjust your expecations.
 
Though having a quick dig around in Autotrader, it doesn't look as if that price is far out of whack with what others are asking for their taxis.

Ah, but the word "mint" does not require or call for a qualifier. It stands alone.

It is in highly unexpected condition for a taxi. It is so far from mint it may as well be a write-off.

Not really. Just got to keep looking at Gumtree, OLX, Junkmail and Fakebook marketplace constantly. Got to be very quick if a bargain comes up. However if a car is just way to good it is usually a scam. If you cannot view the car its a scam, if you have to pay some sort of deposit it's a scam. If you cannot find a used car dealership on Google maps it does not exist and it's a scam. I avoid used car dealers and prefer to deal with private sellers. Just be diligent.

If the process to view or buy the car is complicated it's a scam.

I had a Quantum with 478 000 km's and it never had a problem with the engine. The only issue I ever had with it was a torsion bush needed to be replaced - public transport vehicles need to go for a roadworthy test yearly and they failed me on that.

I bought that van for my wife to do the school run for ours and other kids in the area and only sold it once the taxi drivers kept stopping and intimidating her so it became a security risk. I bought the van for R120k and sold it for R140k :p

I still have my RSA Charter and Scholar permit - meaning I can operate anywhere in the country. I must actually put it up for sale as I don't foresee myself ever owning any public transport vehicle again.
