I find that I'm generally more productive after 5pm. I seem to be able to enter a flow state in the evenings, I'll start work on a project at 5pm and the next thing I know it's past 12pm not realising I've been working at my desk for hours.

On the flip side I do get into a similar state when procrastinating in the evenings. I'll put something off and say to myself I'll start in 15 minutes time and the next thing I know it's 3 hours later.

In general I find that my mind works better in the evenings.

I find its more about the local environment around me at the time. Tying it to a specific time of day doesn't really work in my case, if I'm working on a tough naggy problem, then isolation and into the night works for me, if its working on a design and hammering it out with the various team mates, then normally thats in the day. Really depends on type of problem and the level of patience for interruptions :P

Whenever I am listening to music, generally while working, Time of day not really relevant.

I only can stay focused during the day drinking copious amounts of coffee, I'll end up drinking 3 to 5 350ml mugs of strong coffee a day.
