Banks should be encouraging their customers to use initiatives like cellphone banking by ensuring they are free. They have the most to gain by having their customers banking from outside of the branch.
Where is everybody?

Banks have costly infrastructure in the form of lots of staff, branches and expensive Telscum leased lines (ATM network). Like Telkom punting ADSL and mobile networks placing high price tags on mobile VoIP, initially mobile banking will be more expensive than it should be.
The above businesses need to maximise their returns on technology and infrastructure which is continuously becoming outdated in the face of regulation and competition.
I see mobile banking replacing cash and debit cards - your typical daily transactions. The future is here, we just have to embrace it!
