:confused:Hello i am in need of assistance, you see right now i am a very confused person the reason being that i can't decide on what graphics card to buy.

My old card was a piece o' sh*t 8600gts 256mb and it 'broke' so now i am thinking of getting a 4870 512mb but i don't know if i should wait till the intel larrabee or the new ati 5000 series comes out. Currently my res is 1440*900 but i would like to upgrade in the future. So any help?

Edit: Got about R300-350 left over and want to get a cheap gaming keyboard, any suggestions?

The ATI card should server you well enough for the time being. While Larrabee sounds very interesting, it may take quite some time before any games can make use of it, and it may not play current games all that well. Plus, no one seems to really know when it will be released.

For now, go with something that works. Once you upgrade your monitor size, then you can look around again.

um, the HD 4870 512mb should make life very easy. With that resolution, you could run just about everything on max... What it interesting to note is that the AMD cards support most of the DX11 features due to a big stuff up on Nvidia and Microsofts side

Dude buy one now rather, it could sometime until the new stuff arrives.

Cannot believe nvidia ever brought that piece of crap and actually sold so many.

+1 on both comments. Also what PSU do you have? You might also have to upgrade that if the one you currently have is of the low power variety.

Wait so does the 4870 support dx 11 or dx10.1
also R1600 dats cheap and is getting a sapphire vapor X 4870 for R1900 worth it.
Will be getting a gigabyte odin 585 watt after seeing what happens 2 generic psus in the new NAG.

well, on paper it supports dx10.1, but AMD have some features on the hardware level that will be used by dx11 due to a big fusk up. So maybe the hd4870 will have some more longevity then we think?

Personally, I'd take the R1600 one, at your current resolution, you won't notice the difference compared to the sapphire vapor X, unless you sit there with fraps and you obsessed with frames per second :p.
Rather save the money and put it towards a nice big screen :)

So is it just speculation or is it confirmed that it will support dx11?
O and just saw the odin 585 watt at incredible connection it R1300 way too much, anyone got it cheaper or something equivalent to it?Also would 1gig 800mhz of transend jetram be the sam speed as 1 gig 800mhz of kingston hyper X?

Waay too much for that PSU, you can get a HX520 Corsair for that money.

Speculation.

At your res that card will take care of you for a loong time..

Ram, yes.

You won't notice the difference between the ram.

Ati's 5series should be released 10 september. I'd take the 4870.

Due to ati have 10.1 they'll be supporting more directx 11 features than nvidia.

Hey man, mine also broke the other day, sad it was a awesome card, u can wait but price of the 5000 is what u will have to expect, iv just ordered a GTX260 and waiting, if u want DX11, nvidia DX11 cards are also coming this year so your choice, but DX11 will be best suited when u got WIn7
