I am not sure about you but my email is getting flagged as spam far too often nowadays. Maybe this is not such a widespread issue, but it is for me and I am in rant mode. There are simply too many keywords in spam filters that are falsely flagging emails starting for instance with a simple “Hi” and so forth that it has become a major irritant for me personally to check up on my emails. I don’t start email with the word “Hi” and various other words considered evil by spam blockers anymore. I have to baby my email now! In some instances I now have to follow up my email with a call asking the recipient to verify reception and in many cases getting the “Oops it is in my spam folder for some reason!” response.
Surely we can make spam filters more intelligent than this? I am pretty sure Google Mail, which is my primary email, filters a bit smarter than just by content checking. Surely we are at a level of technological excellence where a server or spam blocking software can ask the mail recipient first before simply chucking email in the sin-bin. People seem to be too lazy to do this. Makes one think about how often to check your spam box, doesn’t it. You don’t know how much loving you might have lost because an email got misdirected.
We all want spammers to be blocked but I am not so sure we are going about it the right way if we have to start looking after our email like little children. Naturally there are spam filters that are pretty clever, but they are not clever enough if my email can be flagged as spam. Especially folks working in the tech industry or sales can easily be blocked for no good reason I believe. My email regularly contains product names, numbers and the like intended for recipients in need of such numbers. The spam filters are just not smart enough to realise that my recipients who I have apparently spammed do get back to me on a regular basis.
It is just so frustrating! Wouldn’t it be nice if there was some way to torture real spammers who got us in this predicament for every spam message they have sent including the false positives we get on our legitimate mail because of their nonsense? Maybe a paper cut for every message! Now there is an idea!
