When in April do the *ubuntu releases get released? I was kind of hoping to use my March blended local cap to download. But meh, wait another month I guess. 8.10 was too unstable for me but I long to get back to experimenting...

I don't find 8.10 unstable, you just have to update to get the latest updates adapted for 8.10.

The final release candidate is available on 16th April, while the actual final release on the 23rd April.

8.04 is LTS afaik.
The server version is LTS

"Canonical releases new versions of Ubuntu every six months and supports Ubuntu for eighteen months by providing security fixes, patches to critical bugs and minor updates to programs. LTS (Long Term Support) versions, which are released every two years, are supported for three years on the desktop and five years for servers."

Ubuntu 8.10 is the latest release with LTS.

9.04 has been "frozen", meaning that no further major changes to it will be made, and it is set for an official release on the twenty-third of April. That's in four days.
