My friend got data charges in his vc contract and when he inquired they shiwed him that there is indeed limites to this unlimited offer. Their must be some sort of misunderstanding with my friends contract or something else vodacom is really misleading the people.
And yes. Vodacom has been dropping its standards regarding bis lately.
My BIS has been perfect except for 2 occasions in the year or so i been using my BB. As for charges, yes there are, as advertised, unlimited on device browsing. There are 3rd party apps that make use of the 'internet' apn and this goes via the normal data network and NOT the BIS network, social networking apps on AppWorld work with BIS, a few of the security and backup utilities from my experience do not. Older versions of mxit still use internet, only after 5.9.X did mxit enable support for BIS.
Connecting your phone to a computer and using it as a tethered modem will incur charges, using 3rd party web browsers like opera may incur charges, although from what i have heard the newer versions support BIS as well, vodacom was smart when they advertised unlimited browsing, email, facebook and twitter, according to that advert using the bb browser, bbfacebook and bbtwitter is free, anything else can be charged for.
Just keep an eye on what you install and check your bill, but most applications available via appworld will use BIS, if you want to ensure that you do not receive unexpected charges simply call vodacoms date desk on 155 and ask them to remove the internet apn from your line, then come hell or high water any app that does not support BIS will not work and that way you will never get these unexpected charges.
