When will there be a wug in george? I see that there is alot of antenna's but no wug.

Approx 154 networks from Home WLAN and WISP

I did a Kismet search 2 years ago with Garmin GPS18 and plotted the approx spots, the 2.4 Ghz is really filled up with everyone providing WISP service (legally & I am sure illegal too) Zoom out a get the total area of George scanned - drove out approx 30 km, up, down, in , out
Software: OpenSuSE 10.3, Kismet, gpsd, gpsmap-gmap

Equipment: Laptop, Senao 200 mw PCMCIA Card 2511-CD-PLUS, Garmin GPS18 (USB) with external 5 dB Omni-directional antenna


Their was some talk on the Garden Route forum, get hold the members, they would support you in George. I am sure based on the kit the Scoop is providing it is perfect WUG, its really easy now.

As protzkrog said, as soon as somebody starts one. :)

I had many enquiries over the years so there is definitely interest, but I refused to take the lead on this one as I already have a hand in far too many pies (such as the local LUG, Freedom Toaster, GeekDinners & Geek Breakfasts).

If somebody else is willing to take the lead then I am definitely in to support this as far as I can.
 
Charl - you are exactly the kind of person that has to take the lead - at least in organising the wug, you have all the contacts to build up a lekker userbase quickly. Remeber, it all starts with two people (and a proper website)
