Where Are the Android Killer Apps?

I agree that games on a phone are mostly pointless, except for fun puzzle games you can play in a few minutes. By the way Gameloft sells lot's of 3D android games from their site. They offered Dungeon Hunter HD for free earlier this month, I downloaded it, played it for five minutes and realised I would much rather play on my PC and haven't bothered since.

Your arguments fail.

The simple truth of the matter is that there are many people out there that do play games on their phones and at the moment (and it seems for the forseeable future as well) the iPhone is the device to choose for games.

Just because you don't game doesn't mean others don't. It's the same argument I've heard from all the Linux fanboys (I love Linux - typing this on Ubuntu at the moment), but the truth is, games are still a major factor why Windows is #1.

Android needs games in the same class as the iOS games and that's the simple truth.

My arguments fail, eh? Which would those be, seeing that I didn't voice any.

It's an opinion - one evidently shared by a fair number of people. An opinion which, when extrapolated, means I think that people who faff about with games on a phone are daft. Furthermore it means that I don't give a flying toss whether Android is ever seen as a competitor to iFruit when it comes to gaming.

Why does Android 'need' these games 'in the same class as iOS' - something it arguably already has - when there are large swathes of the population that would rather have a stable, customisable and versatile OS upon which real-world, daily usability can be built?

The plural of anecdote is not fact.

I don't see how this is an actual debate. For those people who do play games there are many, many HD games for Android, plus Android has a number of console emulators which allow you to play 1000's of games (I could be wrong but Apple won't approve such apps).

Google Navigation is already on my Desire HD, but when you open it, it just says that it's not available in South Africa yet.
Get Brut maps (google and you will find it). You don't need to root your phone

Wtf is an HD game? And the games on Android pale in comparison to the iOS games.

Listen, this is an important issue and dismissing it won't make it go away.

By HD he means the higher tier of games in terms of graphics. I don't know where you are looking but the games I've purchased from the Android Market and Gameloft can be said to be on par with the iPhone or even better in some cases, these being the "HD" affixed games of course.
