When the pandemic hit, a lot of factories shut down, including the ones pushing out GT 1030 cards and the like. When production resumed there was a surge in demand from work-from-home initiatives, so that soaked up all the produce they had. What gives??
Prior to the pandemic, NVIDIA also hadn't really remodeled their low-end parts. You just had the GTX 1650 and 1650 Super. AMD didn't either, but they were fine selling excess RX 570 and RX580 stock.
