R2Cool stuff. Also, Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2?
I saw the dns.exe service or something was quite large. Is that normal? it was around 300mb in size
Would that be the browser extension that links Dell OpenManage to the hw monitoring service?looks like a .....conn_64.exe process is using a lot of memory and disk I/O

wonder what that is

EDIT: I'm assuming the server has a DNS role installed? Maybe check those error logs and clear the cache![]()
think i can kill those dell processes?
Some Googling gave me this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983534
Perhaps when it is convenient you could install it and see if that alleviates the high dns.exe process usage?
If you take a file let's say 1GB in size, copy it from one location on the C drive to another, how long does it take to copy? If this is also slow there is something slowing down your hard drive and it's not just limited to DB operations. Also be careful with installing the patch I mentioned above as if you lose access to the system you will need to get the local guys out to fix it.
Something tells me it might be to do with a patch or a driver or something to that effect...I dunno why
Give it a bash. Worst case scenario you'll need to restart to get them up and running. AFAIK they are just for monitoring thru the web service.
ok going to copy a 1GB file from G: to G:
ok took 10-15 secsok going to copy a 1GB file from G: to G:
I see it went quite fast. Is your DB stored on G: or on C:?
